Palmer Lake, CO Palmer Lake is located at the crest of the divide between the watersheds of two of the largest rivers in Colorado, the Arkansas and the South Platte. The town lies along the west edge of the east plains of Colorado near the foothills of the front range mountains. Originally the settlement was called Divide Lake. Later General William J. Palmer was honored by the re- naming of the town. This is the summit of the railroad grade between Denver and Pueblo. An artificial reservoir was created here to water the steam locomotives. Today Palmer Lake is a bustling bedroom community of both Denver and Colorado Springs. |
